The Sengottai Secondary Hope Center is located in an area that struggles with intestinal issues, child forced labor and arranged marriage, and substance abuse. Despite these challenges, area families feel blessed to have a global community of Child Champions who dedicate themselves to seeing the next generation grow and thrive. By listening to the specific needs of local children, these loving adults are equipped to provide them with individualized care, a chance to succeed, and hope for a better future.
India is the seventh-largest country in the world but is the second most populated after China. India shares borders with Pakistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, the Arabian Sea, and the Bay of Bengal. India is a land of extremes, with the coastal plains in the east and south, deserts in the west, and the foothills leading to the highest mountains in the world, the Himalayas, in the north. India is also diverse in culture, with Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, and many other religious groups influencing society. Hindi is the national language, with English used primarily in metropolitan areas. Just over half of India's workforce is employed in agriculture; rice, wheat, cotton, jute, and tea are the primary crops produced.
