The Valley of Praise Hope Center is located in an area that struggles with intestinal problems, meager incomes, and involuntary child labor in dangerous conditions. Despite these challenges, area families feel blessed to have a global community of Child Champions who dedicate themselves to seeing the next generation grow and thrive. By listening to the specific needs of local children, these loving adults are equipped to provide them with individualized care, a chance to succeed, and hope for a better future.
The Philippines is an archipelago consisting of over seven thousand islands in the South China Sea, east of Vietnam. The combined land mass of the Philippines is slightly larger than Arizona, and it is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. The terrain ranges from jungles to mountains and is usually affected by multiple cyclones each year. Landslides, volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis also create havoc. The economy is based on agriculture, light industry, and supporting services. Filipino and English are the official languages, with Cebuano and Tagalog frequently spoken. Most Filipinos are Christian, but there is a small percentage of people who practice Islam.
