Spiritual Development

Who or what created me? Where did I come from? Why am I here? Am I an accident or do I have purpose? What happens to me when I die?

Because God “has set eternity in the hearts of men” (Ecc. 3:11) it is an inherent desire within a child’s very being to ask these questions. Children receive many different answers to their questions, but very rarely are those answers the truth.

One Child Matters seeks to provide children with the truth: the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is our desire to introduce each child to Jesus so that they can build a real relationship with Him that grows daily. Out of all the vital areas of holistic child development, it is within the spiritual one that we desperately hope children achieve their purpose: to become adopted children of God.

How We Minister to Spiritual Needs

Our projects throughout the world introduce children to Jesus and then encourage them to grow in their relationship with Him in many different ways. While attending One Child Matters projects, children typically participate in Sunday school classes, Bible studies, times of prayer and worship, and summer camps. It is through these activities and the witness of the project staff that we hope children become lifelong followers of Christ in both word and action.
